Branching and Merging

About This Survey

This survey will investigate the use of version control branching and merging in software development projects and draw conclusions about effective strategies and practices.

These operations are often critical to product development, but they have not undergone comprehensive analysis. Thus, your input will be highly valuable to the engineering community.

The survey is anonymous, contains 16 questions, and will take 3-8 minutes to complete.

The University of Calgary Conjoint Faculties Research Ethics Board has approved the research study.
Principle researchers: Shaun Phillips, Dr. Robert Walker, Dr. Jonathan Sillito.

Participation in this survey is completely voluntary, and you may exit at any point; partial responses will not be saved. No personal or identifying information is requested or reported. Upon completion of the study, data will be moved from the webserver to a protected database on the University of Calgary network. Data will be kept indefinitely for future analysis and will only be accessible by the principle researchers.

Upon clicking "Submit" at the conclusion of this survey, you are agreeing to participate in the research study.

The online survey is being administered by SurveyGizmo©, an American software company. As such, your responses are subject to U.S. laws, including the USA Patriot Act.
